Happy half birthday, Andrew!

It is hard to believe that our little buddy is already 6 months old!  I try to think back over the past six months, but to be honest it all seems a little hazy.  Andrew has 8 teeth now!  (We just realized that he was drooly due to the 2 new bottom teeth popping through on Saturday)!  He is wearing 9 month clothing and size 3 diapers.  I'm not sure how much he weighs, but I would imagine he is at least 18 pounds, since he was 17 a month ago.

He is eating cereal in the morning now.  He eats cereal and one serving of fruits and veggies each night.  He has tried many of the stage one foods, and the only one he doesn't like are peas.  He doesn't mind green beans as long as some other food is mixed in a little.  His favorites are definitely fruits and the sweeter veggies.  We've tried a sippy cup after dinner, but he looks at me with a strange look on his face.  I imagine he's wondering what I'm trying to shove into his mouth.

He loves laying on his back and trying to get his toes into his mouth.  He is getting more bendy and is closer to getting them in there.  He likes trying to sit up, but he needs a little help still to stay upright for long.  He is quick to smile, and he is starting to giggle more and more.  He especially likes to hear the funny noises I make or when I try to get him to say "mama" and "dada".   He can lift himself up on his belly and can get around pretty well by turning on his belly.  Andrew doesn't seem too interested in crawling, but each night when he sleeps his knees are tucked under with his butt in the air.

Teeth 3 and 4!

So, tooth three popped through on Wednesday and now tooth four came in today (Thursday)!  Andrew didn't seem to be bothered in the least by his new teeth.  It does change the way he looks and it is a little startling to see two more pearly whites in there.

We've continued with the cereal and he seems to prefer oatmeal.  He wasn't a huge fan in the beginning, but my friend, Angie, suggested mixing in a little banana and that did the trick.  Last night, after eating all of his cereal, Andrew still seemed hungry, so I offered sweet potatoes.  Our little chub ended up eating the entire container of sweet potatoes!  I held out a sliver of hope that all that eating might encourage him to sleep through the night, but to no avail.

On that note, the sleeping is getting better.  Andrew goes to bed between 6 and 7ish.  Since we've cut out the evening nap, he can't stay up much longer than three hours after his last nap.  He goes down pretty easily, minimal crying, then gets up once to eat.  He usually wakes up at 3:30 and 4:30 to see if we'll cave and let him get up.  He seems to be getting the hint that we're not going to get him as the crying is getting shorter each night.  I think we got into a bad habit of letting him eat every time he woke up and obviously didn't need it since he wouldn't eat well once he woke up in the morning.  Hopefully we're getting closer to eliminating all night waking except for maybe one feeding.  It would be nice to get a good chunk of sleep in!  One of these days...
